A large soaking tub was replaced with a curb-less walk-in shower with an adjustable height shower head, rain head, two niches and a small corner ledge for shaving legs. The vanity and Hans Grohe fixtures were ordered through Santa Barbara Plumbing and the tile from Tileco. An inline exhaust fan with two registers was used that is a little loud but moves a lot of air quickly. Not a very large space for a master bathroom but it really turned out nice.

These are a few nice gates that are relatively simple to build and very attractive. They are made with redwood and can be left natural or stained.

This trellis had somewhat extensive water damage but was able to be rebuilt rather than replaced. The large beams were covered with a layer of biuthane before Trex decking was screwed down to prevent water damage from occurring again.

I can not even estimate how many expensive gates, beams, and corbels I have seen that have been destroyed by water penetration that could have been prevented by a copper or galvanized metal cap. There are numerous sheet metal fabricators in Santa Barbara who can make any size of cap and they are not that expensive, especially when considering the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged wood.

This patio roof structure may have been built in the 1960's when this home was new. The wood structure remains in good shape but the original corrugated roofing panels were pretty much worn out. We stripped off the old panels and replaced them with new corrugated polycarbonate panels. A nice light weight weather proof roof when installed correctly.

We built this beautiful deck on the lower Riviera using Trex decking boards and stainless steel cabling. Low voltage LED lights are mounted onto the deck posts for down lighting controller by a photostat timer. The support lumber is all doug fir that we treated with Jasco preservative and the cement footings are raised above grade so there is no lumber is in contact with soil.

This Montecito home had a walled in empty space for some unknown reason that we opened up into a new seating alcove. A bench unit with drawers was made by a local cabinet shop and then the owner had some cushions made to fit. It made for a nice seating area that probably is especially useful when having a large gathering.

We are continually doing all types of assembly since unfortunately most of our consumer goods are made overseas and shipped to us completely unassembled. This pergola kit was actually made in the US on the east coast in white vinyl, but completely unassembled. The landscape contractor set the posts and we did the assembly. The vinyl pieces are basically hollow sleeves that slide over pressure treated framing lumber and it is all held together with anodized decking screws.

Different types of metal sheeting can be uses for counter tops rather than the traditional stone and epoxy based tops. This hammered copper top was fabricated locally at Copper and Roofing Supply and really accented the Castillian motif of the guest bathroom of this lower Riviera home.

We build most all types of gates and fencing including these projects one in Hope Ranch and one in San Roque. We always try to use metal fence posts rather than wood and with a little planning the metal can all be concealed from view.

Your Handyman is a factory authorized servicer for Lynx grills. This home on Las Alturas on the upper Riviera had just completed a very extensive remodel and one of the last details was an outdoor kitchen on their balcony. This kitchen was framed in steel studs which is quick, easy and lightweight as opposed to building with masonry blocks.

This view home on the Mesa had limited storage space so we build several weather tight storage cabinets under the eaves on the side of the garage. A very good way to utilize some space that wasn't being used.

An elderly woman is aging in place in this older home on Scenic Drive above the Montecito County Club golf course. We first saw cut the foundation in the bathroom to install new ABS drain lines to replace the aged and very rusted cast iron pipes. Some time soon all the cast iron drain lines will need to be replaced in this home and this bathroom will not need to be demoed as part of the process. A walk in curb-less shower was installed along with grab bars and new lighting.
